Chapter House
A 27-floor purpose-built student accommodation block in central London — rescued from a stalled installation, faults rectified, and a decentralised five-unit system commissioned floor-by-floor without ever interrupting tenant occupancy.
Project Delivery
Fault Finding
Diagnostic investigation of the existing installation that had previously been undertaken by another contractor — identifying issues to bring the project back on programme.
Installation
Voxiss took over the speaker-installation works across the entire site, completing every device fit and termination to bring the project back on schedule.
Commissioning
Phased commissioning across all 27 floors — each section signed off in turn, then the next compact unit brought onto the fibre network.
The Story
Voxiss were contracted by Crane Communication to diagnose issues and commission an ongoing project at the Chapter Living site near London Bridge.
The system included five compact units linked with fibre connections to each unit’s FO input. Due to the main contractor’s schedule, every unit needed to be commissioned individually so each area could be approved one at a time.
As each section was signed off, the next unit was brought onto the fibre network for further commissioning — allowing the building to remain operational and tenants in residence throughout.
Key challenges included tight timelines, phased delivery, keeping the building occupied throughout, and managing unexpected issues such as flooding mid-project.
In total, Voxiss commissioned a decentralised system of five compact units (four 8003 LNR and one 4002 LNR) with 590 speakers across the 27-floor tower.
Challenges
Issues left by previous works in already-finished rooms had to be rectified without disturbing finished surfaces.
Phased commissioning of the fire system to safely open areas step by step, in line with the main contractor’s programme.
Connecting a shared system across 27 floors using five compact units linked by fibre — consistent zoning behaviour across all decks.
Working smoothly around new tenants without disrupting their daily routines — out-of-hours and quiet-zone working throughout.
Replacement of flood-damaged units mid-programme, with new equipment expedited from EU to UK to maintain schedule.
